The reagent is available as a colourless liquid which is miscible with water. It has a melting point of 11.8 C and a boiling point of 101.1 C. Dioxane can be manufactured from the acid-catalysed dehydration of diethylene glycol. While it is stable under general conditions, this reagent is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
