This is a zwitterionic organic buffering agent which belongs to Goods buffers. This formulation has a pKa of 6.6 with a pKa/C of -0.011 and is most frequently prepared in 1 M NaOH where it exhibits a solubility of 160 mg/mL. ADA buffer has a useful pH range of 6.0 - 7.2 which is in the physiological range, making it useful for cell culture work.
