Description
Ammonium molybdate by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as ammonium heptamolybdate and ammonium paramolybdate, this inorganic compound is a salt of molybdenum. The reagent is available as a white to yellowish-green coloured powder which is soluble in water. It has a melting point at around 90 C at which it loses its water molecule and decomposes at 190 C. Ammonium molybdate can be synthesized by dissolving molybdenum trioxide in an excess of aqueous ammonia and evaporating the solution at room temperature. CAS No.: 12054-85-2 Quantity Provided: 500 ml per bottle Molecular Formula: (NH4)6Mo7O24.4H2O Molecular Weight: 1235.86 Assay: Minimum 99 % Liquid density: 1.0 Ammonium molybdate has a variety of applications in chemical and biological sectors. This compound is utilized as an analytical reagent to measure the amount of phosphates, silicates, arsenates and lead in aqueous solutions. Ammonium molybdate finds applications in the production of molybdenum metal and ceramics, fixing of metals, electroplating, preparation of dehydrogenation and desulphurisation catalysts, fertilizers for crops etc. It is also used as a precursor in the generation of calcium molybdate (CaMoO4) spherulites. It is furthermore used as a negative stain in biological electron microscopy to perform cryo-negative staining. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
