AS-183 is an inhibitor of cholesterol acyltransferase ACAT IC50=0.94 AAasAasAAmuM . AS-183 also inhibits the formation of cholesterol esters in HepG2, CaCo2 and THP-1 cells with IC50 values of 18.1, 25.5 and 34.5 AAasAasAAmuM, respectively. AS-183 can be used in the study of atherosclerosis and hypercholesterolemia.
