Benzhydrol by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as diphenyl methanol and diphenyl carbinol, this is a secondary alcohol. The reagent is available as a colourless crystalline powder which is slightly soluble in water. It has a melting point of 69 C, and a boiling point of 298 C. While this reagent is stable under general conditions, it is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. Benzhydrol can be prepared by a Grignard reaction between phenylmagnesium bromide and benzaldehyde.
