Borax carmine (Grenacher's) by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. This compound is a red dye used in microscopy. The reagent is available as a red solution. The dye is usually prepared by dissolving carmine lake powder in water with sodium borate (borax), followed by boiling this solution and mixing the solution in 1:1 with alcohol. While it is stable under general conditions, this reagent is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
