Calpeptin is used to to inhibit the activities of cathepsin L and calpain-1. Calpeptin blocked the expression of aspartyl protease cathepsin D, amyloid precursor protein, and calparin. It acts as an inhibitor of the Ca2+-dependent protease, calpain.
