CENTA is a colorimetric cephalosporin substrate for ?-lactamases. Upon hydrolysis by ?-lacatamases, CENTA turns from light yellow to chrome yellow, which can be quantified by colorimetric detection at 405 nm as a measure of ?-lactamase activity.
