Dolomite by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. This is an anhydrous carbonate mineral which contains calcium magnesium carbonate. The reagent is available as a powder which is poorly soluble in dilute HCl. Dolomite formation usually occurs in anaerobic conditions in supersaturated saline lagoons, along the Rio de Janeiro coast of Brazil. While it is stable under general conditions, this reagent is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. This compound finds several applications in the synthesis of various organic derivatives. Dolomite finds a variety of uses such as a concrete aggregate, an ornamental stone, a source of magnesium oxide, and in the Pidgeon process for the production of magnesium. It is applied to soils and soilless potting mixes as a pH buffer and as a magnesium source, in horticultural applications. Dolomite is additionally used as a catalyst for destruction of tar in the gasification of biomass. This reagent is suitable for the industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
