Description
Electrophoresed DNA Can Be Purified From The Gel By A Number Of Methods Such As Electroelution, Electrophoresis Onto Deae Cellulose/ Nitrocellulose (Na45)Paper, Using Agarase(From Low Melting Agarose) Or Using Glass Beads/ Silica Etc. DNA Binds to Silica In Presence Of A Chaotropic Salt, Independent Fits Base Composition And Topology. Chaotropic Salts Are Known To Disrupt The Hydrogen Bonds Of Water, Thus Increasing The Solubility Of Non-Polar Substances In Water. Hence, Due To Dehydration Of Phosphodiester Backbone By Chaotropic Salts, The Exposed Phosphate Residues Of DNA Adsorb To Silica.
