Gemtuzumab affects cell necrosis by specifically targeting CD33 expressed on the surface of leukaemic cell blasts in acute myeloid leukemia AML . Gemtuzumab ozogamicin consists of a cytotoxic derivative of Calicheamicin a cytotoxic antibiotic , and a monoclonal antibody.
