Description
These particular HeLa cells stably express the LIS1 protein which is also known as Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolase IB subunit alpha PAFAH1B1 . It is part of a complex called platelet activating factor acetylhydrolase 1B PAFAH1B . PAFAH1B controls the amount of platelet activating factor PAF in the brain which is thought to control neuronal movement. PAFAH1B1 also interacts with microtubules and is thought to be involved in cytoskeleton organization. PAFAH1B1 is one of the proteins that when the gene encoding it is lost or mutated results in Miller-Dieker syndrome. High magnifications 400-1000x are required to observe the GFP-tagged fusion due to the intracellular localization of specific subcellular structures. Cell line was generated by retroviral infection pBABE MMLV .
