Description
The Immortalized Atherosclerotic Plaque Human Smooth Muscle Cell Line pdSMC1A , is derived from explant cultures of surgical specimen obtained from a patient with diseased atherosclerotic palques in an aortic aneurysm. Cells were immortalized with pLXSN-HPV-16 E6/E7 retrovirus and TRAP assays confirmed telomerase activity. Norther analysis confirmed the presence of alpha-smooth muscle-actin mRNA in pdSMC1A. Cells display irregular cell shapes and organization as well as numerous mitotic figures in confluent cultures.
