Immortalized Human Adrenocortical Cells - hTERT + SV40

Description

The human adrenal cortex plays an important role in regulating the endocrine system by secreting glucocorticoids, mineralcorticoids and adrenal androgens in response to environmental stimulation. The Immortalized Human Adrenocorticol Cells- hTERT is established from primary cells isolated from healthy kidney tissue, whose donor underwent tumor nephrectomy for renal carcinoma using retrovirus carrying hTERT gene. These cells are useful in studies involving the biochemical and molecular mechanisms associated with adrenal steroidogenesis and adrenal physiology. Telomerase repeat amplification protocol TRAP assay was performed to measure telomerase activity in the immortalized cell line. Note: SV40 expression was stably integrated into the cells in 2025.
