Methacrylic acid (also known as methacrylic acid, 2-Methyl-2-propenoic acid, -Methacrylic acid, 2-Methylacrylic acid and 2-Methylpropenoic acid) is a colorless viscous liquid with repulsive and acrid odor. It is soluble in most organic solvents and also soluble in warm water. It is produced in large-scale in industries as a precursor for the polymer poly(methyl methacrylate).
