Description
mIL5 Cells are derived from primary tumors of the intermediate lobe from POMC-Tag transgenic mice. The cells exhibit a branched cytoplasmic extensions in culture, and have large polymorphic nuclei in appearance in contrast to the mIL39 Cells T8007 . There is expression of POMC, but no SV40 Tag expression was observed indicating spontaneous mutation may have occurred. However, the cells are transformed due to the characteristics of fast doubling time and ability to be tumorigenic. mIL5 Cells are able to secrete PRF PRL-regulating factor , and may be used to study the function of PRL feedback and regulation for the process of lactation.
