Description

Montan wax is a high-grade reagent supplied by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries. It is available in the form of dark brown to light yellow colour when crude, or white when refined. It is composed of non-glyceride long-chain carboxylic acid esters (6268 weight %), free long-chain organic acids (2226%), long-chain alcohols, ketones, and hydrocarbons (715%), and resin. Montan wax has a melting point in the range of 8295 C. CAS No. 8002-53-7 Quantity provided: 500 gm/bottleMontan wax is used for making car and shoe polishes, paints, and phonograph records. It is also used as a lubricant for molding paper and plastics. Formerly, its main use was making carbon paper. The montan wax contains much higher aliphatic acid, higher aliphatic ester and alcohol etc. which provide excellent advantages, like oil absorbency and color solubility. When appropriate amount of montan wax is added into the carbon paper recipe, it can absorb excessive oil substances, help to dissolve pigment and provide the carbon paper with smooth, uniform surface and is not sticky. The montan wax is an important raw material in the carbon paper industry. Unrefined montan wax contains asphalt and resins, which can be removed by refining. Montan wax in polishes improves scuff resistance, increases water repellence, and imparts high gloss. Since the montan wax is characterized by low electric conductivity and good insulating property, it can be coated on the surface of the electric wires and cables.
