NHS-activated 2-octynoic acid-BSA works in conjunction with Complete Freunds Adjuvant HY-153808 to stimulate the bodys immune system, causing the immune system to recognize it as a foreign antigen and trigger an immune response against autologous biliary epithelial cells. This leads to the production of anti-PDC-E2 antibodies, resulting in bile duct damage and inflammation. NHS-activated 2-octynoic acid-BSA is promising for research of primary biliary cholangitis.
