Veegum by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. Also known as Magnesium Aluminium Silicate, this is a refined fine particle mineral called 'smectite'. This reagent is available as an off-white flaky powder which is insoluble in water. It swells in size when added to water. While it is stable under general conditions, this reagent is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. It is used as a filler in deodorants, shaving creams and thick lotions. Veegum is additionally used as an in-mix suspending agent and surface hardener in glazes. It is furthermore employed as a plasticizing agent where it can efficiently plasticize completely non-plastic materials such as calcined alumina, zirconia, calcium carbonate etc. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
