Wijs reagent solution by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. This is a solution of iodine monochloride in acetic acid. This reagent is employed to determine the iodine value of various substances. This value is the mass of iodine in grams which is consumed by 100 grams of a chemical substance. Addition of this iodine chloride and back-titration with sodium thiosulphate is performed for the determination of this value. While this reagent is stable under general conditions, it is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents.
