Zinc sulphide by Research Lab Fine Chem Industries is a high grade reagent. This inorganic compound is a sulphide salt of zinc. The reagent is available as a white powder which is poorly soluble in water. It has a melting point of 1,850 C. Zinc sulphide is generally obtained from waste materials from other applications, but can be formed from igniting a mixture of zinc and sulfur. The compound is stable under general conditions, however, it is incompatible with strong oxidizing agents. Zinc sulphide is additionally used as an infrared optical material, transmitting from visible wavelengths to just over 12 micrometers. It is an efficient photocatalyst, producing hydrogen gas from water upon illumination. This reagent is suitable for industrial synthesis of products and research applications.
